Dr. Joseph L. Mathew

Dr. Joseph L. Mathew is a Pediatric Pulmonologist at the Advanced Pediatrics Centre, Postgraduate Institute of Medical Education and Research (PGIMER), Chandigarh, India. He has developed expertise in three areas of health-care viz pediatric respiratory disease, immunization/ vaccines of public health importance, and evidence-informed health-care. Dr. Mathew is a pioneer of the EBM movement in India; he was a founding member of the South Asian Cochrane Network Centre, and continues to be a Member of the Steering Group.. He created the EURECA section published in Indian Pediatrics. Dr. Mathew has attempted to bridge the gap between research evidence and clinical practice through his involvement with Health Technology Assessment (HTA). He is the Founder Chair of the HTAi and the Programme Manager of the SIGNET Capacity and Capability Building Initiative for health-care professionals, in the science of evidence-informed decision-making in health-care.

Dr. S. Venkataseshan is working as a Associate Professor in Neonatal unit of Paediatrics department of PGIMER. His research interests are primarily in severe sepsis, perinatal asphyxia and cardiovascular hemodynamic. His research work has received many awards. Recently has been awarded Asian Society of Pediatric Reasearch (ASPR) Best Research Award as a co-investigator in the Pediatric Academic Societies annual meeting held at Denver, Colarado, USA, May 2011. He has many publications in indexed journals to his credit. He is member of many research societies like Asian Society of Pediatric Research, National Neonatology Forum and the Indian Academy of Pediatrics and also Member of the Equipment Committee and Neonatal Database & Regional Networking Committee of the National Neonatology Forum.

Dr Anil Chauhan is consultant in Evidence Based Health Informatics & Health technology assessment in Regional Resource centre at PGIMER, Chandigarh. He has worked as Senior Research Officer under ICMR Advanced Centre for Evidence Based Child Heath at PGIMER, Chandigarh. He pursued his Ph.D under Dr. Meenu Singh in the field of asthma and allergy in children. He did his masters degree in the field of Biochemistry from PGIMER, Chandigarh. He pursued International Fellowship course on Health Technology Assessment from School of Public health, PGIMER, Chandigarh. He has been involved in conducting systematic reviews, capacity building, literature searching from medical databases and guidelines in the field of Evidence based medicine. Professor Somnath Mukhopadhyay (MBBS, PhD, MD, FRCPCH)

Professor Mukhopadyay is presently the Chairman of Paediatrics at Brighton & Sussex Medical School, Royal Alexandra Children’s Hospital,U.K. He discovered a novel mechanism causing eczema and asthma and the role of this gene defect on a number of aspects of the development of allergy and asthma in children. He also discovered a gene change that substantially reduces the efficacy of the commonest asthma medicine, the ‘blue inhaler’, in children. His recent randomized controlled trial testing this hypothesis through the development of asthma treatments for children that are personalised according to genotype has generated further international interest. He has collaborated with Professor Meenu Singh at the PGIMER, Chandigarh for many years and jointly published the first systematic review in the field of cystic fibrosis, exploring the field of nebulised anti-pseudomonal antibiotic therapy. Susbequently, Professor Mukhopadhyay has participated in a number of systematic reviews in the field of cystic fibrosis and asthma in children. This work has addressed issues of clinical importance within this paediatric sub-speciality.

He completed his masters in Medical Biochemistry from Manipal University and PhD from PGIMER, Chandigarh. Dr. Amit Agarwal

Dr. Amit Agarwal presently working as Senior Research officer in the “ICMR Advanced centre for Evidence Based Child”, Advanced Pediatric Centre, PGIMER, Chandigarh has passéd his Masters in Biotechnology from University of Rajasthan. He also worked with Institute of Microbial Technology as a project assistant in molecular biology laboratory. Then after he joined PGIMER in an ICMR project as Senior Research Fellow in 2008. He has qualified ICMR fellowship and GATE. He worked as a study coordinator in IndiaCLEN Severe Pneumonia Oral Therapy study (ISPOT). He is associated with this centre from the beginning. He has done his Ph.D. in 2013 under the guidance of Dr. Meenu Singh. He attended many International and national conference. His research work has received Abstract Scholarship Award in the American Thoracic society held at Philadelphia, USA, May 2013.
